Trouville-sur-Mer Travel Guide

Trouville-sur-Mer is a small town in the Calvados region of French Normandy, known as a fishing community.[1] The town sits on the opposite side of the Touques River[2] bordered by Deauville.[3] Despite being less extravagant as Deauville, Trouville is probably more popular as a resort town.[4]

Trouville was founded by Daumier, Boudin, and Isabey in the 1800s and developed as a resort without any formal city planning. Some find the lack of structure to the city rather charming, while others find it downright confusing. Most of the early development centered around the fishing harbor. Today, this area is still vibrant and is also fairly close to the popular Louis XIII style casino nearby.[5]
