Smokvice is a municipality with a population of 1125 situated in the central part of the island of the Korcula. The city wine cellar produces the famous wine of Posip which is protected by law. This is a major road junction from which the roads lead to all parts of the island. The Brna cove has lovely beaches, the healing mud.
Smokvice is situated at an elevation of 127 m. There is a unique monument here which tells us about the two millenniums of wine production in this area. It was once used for the pressing of grapevine in the period of the Greek colonization.
