The Langtang region
Hari says 12 years ago
The Langtang region is easily accessible from Kathmandu. Langtang area in itself is a good choice for those with limited time. In one week to ten days, one can visit Langtang area for trekking. The Himalayan views overall are not quite as spectacular as in the Annapurna or Everest areas, but they remain unforgettably beautiful. In addition, the trails are less crowded and the people are friendly.

Perhaps first established as national park for Himalayan wildlife, Langtang National Park is criss-crossed with hiking and trekking paths and mountaineering trails allowing visitors unparalleled accessibility. You will often see musk deer (Moschus chrysogaster) and Himalayan tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus), Himalayan black beer (selenarctos thibetanus), snow leopard (panthera uncia), wild god (cuon alpinus), ghoral (Nemorhedus goral) serow (capricornis sumantrenis) and more than 250 species of birds. The park is also renowned for its population of red panda (Ailurus fulgens)

A little further up the valley is Kyanjin Gompa, where we stop overnight and sample the local yak cheese. We pass through Nubamatang, nestled in a hidden valley, on our way up to view the glaciers, which mark the gateway into Tibet. Backtracking, we travel through Syabru and Sing Gompa to a high plateau, where the sacred lake Gosainkund is located. Crossing the Llaurebena Pass (4610m), we continue south, leaving the Langtang region behind us as we travel through the Helambu valley to Gul Bhanjyang. From here it's just a few days trek back to Kathmandu.

Nepal Everest Experience Mountain Flight
Hari says 12 years ago
For the travelers who are unable to make a trekking to the mountains either because of lack of or physical fitness, or due to sheer want of the adventure streak, there are mountain flights to simulate the experience.

The one hour flight takes you within camera range of some of the highest peaks in the world, and cruising this close to the awe-inspiring massifs of rock and ice, is an out of this earth experience. The aircraft takes off and heads eastward and almost immediately, the peaks come into view. The first peak that appears on your horizon is the majestic Gosainthan, standing 8,013m tall. To its right, appears Dorje Lhakpa (6,966), looking like a massive figure of 8, lying prone and covered is snow. To its right is Phurbi Chtachu, which looms over the Kathmandu valley.

Next to your vision is Choba Bhamre, rather small in this company at 5,933m. But singularly stubborn as it remains unconquered to this day. Then comes Mt. Gauridhanker (7,134), standing out sharp and conspicuous-Hindus believe that lord Shiva and his consort Parvati protect this mountain.

As the flight moves toward the Eastern Himalaya, a succession of the majestic mountain follows. Melungtse, with a plateau-like top stands at 7,023m; Chugimago is at 6,297m, and still remains to be scaled. at 6,956m. Mt. Number resembles a breast, and is believed to be the maternal source in the sky providing pure milk to the Sherpas of Solokhumbu. then, Karyolung, a gleaming-white mountain at 6,511m, and Cho-Oyu, the sixth highest in the world at 8,021m.

The last and most exciting stretch of the journey takes you close to the 7,952 m. tall Gyachungkhang, which is considered an extremely tough climb. To its right is Pumori at 7,161m and Nuptse 7,855m. Finally, there is Mt. Everest itself 8,848 m. called Sagarmatha by Nepalese and Chomolungma by the Tibetans. It is an altogether different feeling as ones comes face to face with the world’s tallest and most enigmatic of mountains
Season for Mountain Flight

Though Mountain Flight is enjoyed by thousands all year round through us. We have seen and discovered and would strongly recommend the time period from February, March, April, October & November as prime time to enjoy the mountain flights.

The Name “Annapurna” came after the Mount. Annapurna, which is the 10th highest mountain in the world. Annapurna is a series of peaks in the Himalaya, Annapurna I, stands at 8,091 m (26,538 ft). It is located east of a great gorge cut through the Himalaya by the most famous river, Kali Gandaki and which separates it from the Mount Dhaulagiri. In Hinduism, Annapurna is a goddess of fertility and agriculture. The Region, Annapurna is surrounded by many Himalayan ranges which include the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre - the famous fish-tail mountain that lies north part of pokhara.

Annapurna Conservation Area offers varieties of flora and fauna form sub tropical to pine and you will grace by the heart touching blossoming rhododendron on your way. This region is also the home to copious wildlife like pika, blue sheep, snow leopards, tigers and Himalayan thar. Multiplicity of birds including multi –colored Impheyan, koklas and blood pheasants, offer you their natural beauty. In this region you will encounter with the Gurungs and Thakali people whose unique culture and religion makes you surprise. You will experience how friendly and open hearted these people are, and you can get a taste of their lifestyle by staying in their house and knowing their way of living and their culture and tradition.

About two-thirds of the trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region. In this Region there is one project known as ACAP (Annapurna conservation Area Project) . The project covers the whole Annapurna range, more than 7600 sq km.
