We stayed at the Kyoto Gardens Hotel in Kyoto which whilst extremely small, was relatively cheap at around $105 Australian. It was also very clean, cosy and just around the corner from the Karasuma Oike subway station which made transport very easy. Would definately recommend it. Be prepared for one...
