Krapanj is the name of an Adriatic island and a village situated on the same island. The population is 2,513. The island is not far off the Sibenik coast. The old ways of life still live on in Krapanj. The men gather corals and sponges and then work them either into beautiful ornaments or useful products. The Franciscans built a church there as early as the 15th century.
A painting of the Last Supper, dating from the 16th century is still kept in the church. The most interesting place to visit is the local museum, exhibiting the flora and fauna of the Adriatic Sea. The highest point of the island is at an altitude of 7 m, which makes it the lowest Adriatic island. The island also has a long wine-growing tradition.
