Iz Travel Guide

Iz is a village and an island of the same name in the Zadar archipelago. It has two villages. Veli Iz and Mali Iz. It is mentioned in the 10th century by Constantine Porfinogenet under the name "Ez".

The parish church was mentioned in the 14th century. The Fonfogona family castle from the 19th century is turned into a school. Iz had a well organized religions fold in the 10th century. It was inhabited in the prehistoric times. This island still clings on to its peculiar language which makes it a place of great interest for anyone who engages in the study of the cakavian dialect.
