I arrived at the hotel and was so impress with the view, I made reservations for a front ocean room, however the room that they gave me the view was of the Palapa bar, the next day I asked them to move me to a different room since I paid extra for a front ocean room. they moved me, however, they put me in the 5th floor with a palm tree right in front of my room, it was still nice. I love the swimming pool. the location of the hotel is great, most of the staff were very friendly. Room service was good, usually received my meals with in less then 30 minutes.
However, I had two experiences that made me not want to comeback to this hotel. When I was at the beach near the palapa, the waiter came and asked people if they wanted something to drink, he went by a a few times with out noticing me, finally I asked him if I can have a glass of water, he came and went and brought drink asked to drink orders and I asked him again if he remember my water, he said I forgot, finally he got me the water. I asked him if there was any food at the palapa and he said yea there is some fruit there.
Then, two Caucasians arrived and the waiter immediately went and asked them if they wanted something to drink, he immediately brought their drinks, he male asked the water if there was something to eat and the waiter said yes, he went and brought them the menu, they order food and the waiter brought them their food. I could not believe what I was seen, they were sitting right next to me. We had the same type of dark blue band in our wrist, so I just don't know what the difference was.
the other time I had just come back from a long walk and I went to the lobby bar sat down the bar tender looked at me and he continue washing the glasses, again two Americans sat down and the bar tender immediately asked them " what do you want amigos"?, he proceeded to mix two drinks and then turned around and asked me if I wanted something to drink, I order a margarita, it was the worst, I do not know what type of tequila he used but I took a sip and left.
These two experiences defined the trip at this hotel and forgot about all the other good things that this hotel has to offer.
I am Mexican and hear of this type of things happening before, how services is better for Caucasians, well I did not believed it before, maybe Mexicans don't tip very good, I just do not know, I would recommend this hotel if you are Caucasian, you will receive great service, if you are Mexican go to a hotel where you can pay for your own drinks and food and tip well so you get good service.
