Fremont is a neighborhood in Seattle’s northwest and southeast of Ballard. The neighborhood once harbored a counterculture with residents who were rather rebellious. Today, it is more gentrified with more and more information technology companies setting up their offices in Fremont, including Adobe and Google.
Fremont is famous for the “Waiting for the Interurban” sculpture. It is a cast aluminum sculpture of six people standing under a shelter and awaiting public transportation. It is also known for its Fremont Troll sculpture of an 18-foot troll crushing a Volkswagen Beetle with his hand. It is located underneath the Aurora Bridge.
