| Fremont is a neighborhood in Seattle’s northwest and southeast of Ballard. The neighborhood once harbored a counterculture with residents who were rather rebellious. Today, it is more gentrified with more and more information technology companies setting up their offices in Fremont, including Adobe and Google.[1] Fremont is famous for the “Waiting for the Interurban” sculpture. It is a cast aluminum sculpture of six people standing under a shelter and awaiting public transportation.[2] It is also known for its Fremont Troll sculpture of an 18-foot troll crushing a Volkswagen Beetle with his hand. It is located underneath the Aurora Bridge.[3] References: “Fremont, Seattle, Washington.” < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont%2C_Seattle%2C_Washington> “Fremont Troll.” < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont_Troll> “Waiting for the Interurban.” < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waiting_for_the_Interurban> [1] Fremont Seattle [2] Waiting [3] Fremont Troll | |
