Foster Island Travel Guide

Foster Island is an island in Union Bay[1] that is popular among Seattleites especially during the summer months for canoeing and kayaking.[2] Many residents rent canoes or kayaks from the Waterfront Activities Center of University of Washington.[3] The island is also popular for sunbathing and picnicking on the lawns as well as angling for trout or catfish.[4]

The main attraction of Foster Island is the Foster Island Trail, which is a three-mile path that crosses over low bridges along boardwalks through bogs, marshes, and wetlands that are inhabited by frogs, wildfowl, ducks, and fish.[5]
