Addis Ababa Travel Guide

Addis Ababa School Children

Founded by Emperor Menelik in 1887, Addis Ababa is the social, political and economic capital of Ethiopia with a population of more than two million people.

As a true African cosmopolitan city, Addis Ababa is full of exuberant life with thriving businesses and social scene. With no previous urban planning and no official zoning areas until recently, the city has a mix of tall office buildings, villas, apartments, bungalows and houses that are surrounded by livestock – sheep, cattle, goats, chickens, etc.

As a result, the present day appearance of Addis Ababa reflects the organic evolution of the City.
